  • Attendance on Single Term Report Card

We are looking at using the Single Term Report Card for end of year in our Elementary Schools and have a few questions that I'm hoping to have input on.

#1 - Attendance (sigh...) - what do I need to do/set up to get the ATT-AM & ATT-PM courses to pull on the report card. I've removed the ticks at district level for hide on transcript, report card & grade input but cannot get it to appear. Transcript definition is comment only & I've prepared grade input & dates. As this is where all period attendance has been recorded with the new set up this year, we'd like to have it show on report cards so we can communicate the number of lates (daily attendance does have the lates as we used the BC Multi-Add Class Attendance feature). How are others handling reporting of lates?

#2 - Sequence order for courses to appear on Report Cards. XSTU appears first, above the teacher's comment - cannot get this reversed. Has anyone else had this? Is it possible to change?

    Appreciate input :-)

We abandoned the ATT method, and went back to Daily, as it was producing double values in some reports. Apparently that is by design, as they treat the AM as a record, and PM as a record; however, on some reports it says "days" even though it is those two records.

As far as I can determine, the School Message, Student Self-Assessment of Core Competencies, and Teacher Overall Comment will always come out before the other areas of learning (in that order). I've tried sequencing the Overall Comment, and it ignored me. Those three items are hard coded to appear in that spot, as is the position of the attendance box at the very bottom.

I think that the report needs a bit of work; I don't know if it is "first draft" or what. Perhaps there will be a flood of requests for the Software Enhancement Committee to consider regarding this template. Get your SMC rep to send in your request for changes.

Thanks Joe - we've persevered with Class Attendance as we have all our teachers doing attendance and when clerical worked in daily, we were overwriting each other and creating two attendance records for the same period (A & L). The new BC Multi Add has solved this for us and sped up the entry time considerably but I just need to find a way to get the lates to appear on the report card. My thought was the lates are recorded in the course (ATT-AM or ATT-PM) so if these course would appear on the report card, it would have the count per period and then the daily value would appear below in the standard label that we are accustomed to in Elementary. Unfortunately, even though I removed the ticks for hide from report card/transcript/grade book, they still are not printing on the report card. Obviously I'm missing something and was hoping someone else was working on this too.

As for the course sequencing, it worked last year when we use the Intermediate RC but with the new Term RC the Student Self-Assess seems to be locked as #1, above the Teacher's comments. I was hoping to reverse this order but I'm gathering its hard coded. Thanks for giving me feedback - appreciate hearing someone else's input. Hoping we have a session for Elementary issues in May at the consortium so we can have input/discussion on some of these points.

    Hi Annette,
Our elementary schools don't use the report card, so I did some playing in TEST. As long as the parameter box was checked to show 'Daily Attendance', it showed fine. It is a box at the very end of the student's report card. I do not prepare grade input and dates for my ATT-AM and ATT-PM classes. My 'hide on transcript', 'hide on report card', and 'hide from gradebook' boxes are checked for the courses. Hopefully something in here will help...
Joe is correct. The Student Self-Assessment and Teacher Overall Comment are hard-coded to show at the beginning of the report. The display order for the other classes can be adjusted.

Thanks Brenda - I understood the Daily Attendance for the bottom of the report card but of course, this is not recognizing any of the lates that were entered using the new BC Multi Add which is what I directed our clerical to use. By using the new process, we sped up the entry time considerably and my thought was as a temporary fix until we get to Phase 2 of Attendance, I would add the ATT-AM & ATT-PM course to the report card and it would show the Absent # for AM & the Absent # for PM as well as a count of Lates - something that the teachers want showing as it reflex learning time.
So I removed the hide on transcript, report card & gradebook in test to see what it would look like but its not appearing. I must be missing something and was hoping someone else was considering this and could give me guidance. Thanks for answering my post :-)
